FBI Releases 2011 Crime Stats For Lake Elsinore And Wildomar

Property crimes are up in both cities; violent crime has increased in Lake Elsinore.

Violent crime has edged up in Lake Elsinore, whereas Wildomar has seen a slight decrease, according to new figures released Monday from the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The FBI’s 2011 Uniform Crime Report (see chart below) shows that compared to 2010, Lake Elsinore has seen a 13 percent uptick in violent crimes; the number of violent crimes in Wildomar has decreased more than 20 percent.

The newly released report also reflects property crimes. Both Lake Elsinore and Wildomar have seen increases in these types of incidents, the report shows, with each city up about 3 percent over the 2010 numbers.

Lake Elsinore and Wildomar officials have expressed concern about budget cuts that have led to a decreased police presence in the two cities.
