Fire Scorches Five Acres Near Goodmeadow

Fire crews have halted progress on a slow-moving blaze that started Saturday morning

Riverside County firefighters battled a five-acre brush fire today in Goodmeadow area, just north of Lake Elsinore, a fire department spokeswoman said.

The blaze near Christmas Tree Lane and Gilmer Road was reported at 9:06
a.m., said county fire department spokeswoman Melody Hendrickson.

60 firefighters from Riverside County and CalFire have stopped the forward
spread of the flames, which had burned five acres by midday, Hendrickson said.

No injuries have been reported and no buildings have been threatened so far, she said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
