Jail Power Outage Forces Arrestees To Be Rerouted
An electrical disruption at the Robert Presley Detention Center in downtown Riverside today prompted sheriff's officials to activate backup generators and close the facility to new inmate bookings as a precaution.
The power outage occurred around 1:30 p.m., though the source of the trouble was not immediately identified.
According to Riverside County sheriff's spokesman Albert Martinez, the jail's emergency generators were engaged to power the facility.

"Everything's up and running," Martinez told City News Service about 2:45 p.m. "They're just trying to figure out what's going on."
He said jail administrators did not want to admit any more detainees until the detention center was back on the grid. Until then, individuals taken into custody in the Riverside metropolitan area were being transported to the Southwest Detention Center in French Valley and Smith Correctional Facility in Banning. --City News Service
