On my way home from my shop yesterday I was almost hit by a drunk driver on Grand twice, I pulled over to let him pass and he almost sideswiped my car, I chased him to Riverside Dr, got his lic plate number and the cars description and called 911, after getting a busy signal, then being put on hold they transferred me to Riverside Sheriff, by that time he was long gone. I should of pulled him over myself, when he got out pepper sprayed him and then called the police.

It seems as though the sober are few and far between in this town. Shameful.

I have an idea for an app that wod take one push and you are intact with cops and they know where you are. Just follow the person at a safe distance and speak thru the open speaker. Just need someone to build if.

Diana, I would not consider that a wise thing to do!, you will only unleash a host of many things to happen not to mention personal injury or death to you or other's. Next time stay a safe distance and follow the vehicle giving the dispatcher locations, save the pepper spray for your personal protection as intended, and a possible lawsuit.

Sounds like a good idea to me. What could possibly go wrong with that plan?

@ Diana I can empathize with you. I get so frustrated seeing careless people driving. It feels like automobiles are weapons of mass destruction for idiots. Not only should you not drive under the influence, stop speeding in school zones! We all want to get to where we are going!! Safely!!

I have never seen people drive the way they do in this town, I can drive all over OC, Murrietta, Temecula and other towns and when I hit Lake Elsinore it is an entirely different driving situation, people pull out from side streets without stopping, make the left hand turn in front of you, or almost smack you while you're trying to turn, why is everyone is such a huge hurry to jeopardize their safety and mine, I just don't get it. We need more police presence especially during peak hours on Grand and Riverside Dr., you never see a cop anywhere on these streets during work traffic, school hours, I sent an email to the PD regarding these unsafe issues.

Why would 911 patch you through to the sheriff when u called from a cell phone? 911 from cell phones goto highway patrol, drunk drivers fall under there jurisdiction...god i hate chp out here
Jason EHS '99 October 27, 2012 at 05:37 PM
Diana, trust me, there is a cop for every 2 schools in lake elsinore that patrol after school is let out. I see them just about everyday. They are in motorcycles so they are a little harder to spot...but trust me, they are there

The Motor Officers aren't there for public safety, but rather to generate revenue. If you are speeding they will ticket you, driving drunk? Not too sure they are even looking for that. Those idiots will ticket fellow officers and even their mom for that matter, if they witness them committing a traffic offense that the municipality can profit from.

I recently got pulled over for speeding, I handed the officer an expired insurance document. He tells me there is no way to validate whether I have insurance or not, because of all the insurance companies out there. He goes on to tell me he is not concerned about the state of my insurance so he will not cite me for that. Instead he cites me for speeding - 15 over on Winchester (0800 Sunday morning) with few others on the road at that time. At least cite me for the insurance and pretend you have a concern for public safety. I was clearly a danger to myself and others at that time. Personally, I would be much more concerned for the potential lack of insurance, but then again, I am not an idiot without a conscience.

Diana, I have lived in Lake Elsinore all my life, and that's many years, the drivers you're talking about I call O.C. A??????? Most came from O.C. and L.A. Drivers around here used to wave high, and be friendly, now they run you off the road while driving unsafe and that's in Murrieta, Wildomar, Canyon Lake, and Temecula. I drive Grand and Riverside Dr. every day and the sheriff's have a motor officer there every day, I see him at least once a week, one lived next door to me a few years ago. We called him Sheriff Bob. These guys do a good job. Keep doing your part and report these people. If you do, they will increase there presence. Give licence plate numbers like you did. Don't get mad, get even. Never confront someone and put yourself in danger, cops have back up, you don't. I'm with you.So be cool!!

If you are calling 911 from your cell phone there is a different number to use. If you dial 911 it goes to the highway patrol like Jason EHS 99 said. I drive Riverside Drive and Grand as school is starting and getting out and there is alway an deputy on those streets. I want to Thank the Riverside County Sheriff's Department for all their hard work keeping our communities safe. They cover a much larger area now due to cutbacks.

My neighbor was beat up by roobers in his house. He called 911 while he chased them down the street. Then they ran into a house. He was put on hold then hung up on. Then when we called for him they told us it was already taken care of. 2 hours later a patrol car came to his house. Went to the house they ran into then left. Told my neighbor they couldn't find them but will make a report. I read these articles everyday and it seem everything is drug related. If they would be more responsive maybe they could have caught robers. Instead they got some guy walking home from the bar and arrested him for being drunk in public. He's drunk and not driving. I live near an elementry school and see kids almost get hit at least 2x a day. There are no cops around this school to keep little kids safe. I'm sure many other people have stories of the horrible job le police and sheriff do. But good thing they are ticketing speeders and getting all the stoners off the streets.

Great to hear that there is presence for the kids at school hours now if we could get someone to show presence of Riverside or Grand during work traffic hours that would be a plus. Thanks everyone for the great information.

911 is answered by sheriff's dispatchers, a transfer to the sheriffs dept seems unlikely, they would just dispatch someone to the area
Jason EHS '99 November 06, 2012 at 01:30 AM
KC, 911 from a landline is routed to sheriff yes, but when u dial 911 from a cell phone, it goes to highway patrol. And heres something i find ironic. I was behind someone who was obviously drunk outta there mind. I called 911 to report him as i followed behind him a few car lengths back. Not only did they actually pull that guy over, i also stopped to give a statement to the cop, i was cited for talking on a cell phone while driving lol wtf?? Really??? Thats the last time i ever help a police officer do there job
