Known Sex Offender Nabbed By Lake Elsinore Deputies
Michael Allen Penwell, 57, was arrested Wednesday morning in unincorporated area just east of the city, at Forrest Road, jail records show.
Deputies out of the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station have arrested a known sex offender, according to jail records.
Michael Allen Penwell, 57, was arrested Wednesday morning in unincorporated area just east of the city, at Forrest Road, jail records show.
He was booked on suspicion of failing to register as a sex offender and failing to register his change of address, according to the records.

Penwell has been in violation of sex offender registration requirements since Sept. 15, 2011, according to the state’s sex offender database. He was convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child “14 or 15 years of age,” according to the database. His conviction date was not available.
According to the database, Penwell’s last known address was in San Bernardino County.

He is being held at Southwest Detention Center and is due to appear in court Friday, jail records show.
