Man Found Dead in a Field Near Homeland was Kidnapped and Beaten

Authorities say a Mead Valley man found dead in a field near Homeland had been kidnapped and then beaten to death.

A Mead Valley man found dead in a field near Homeland had been kidnapped and then beaten to death, Riverside County sheriff's deputies said Sunday.

The man was found Friday in an open field near Juniper Flats Road and Falcon View Lane, north of Highway 74 about midway between Perris and Hemet. He had been beaten to death, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Jeff Buompensiero said.

Detectives soon learned the victim had been kidnapped from his home, on Orange Avenue in Mead Valley, sometime on Thursday, Buompensiero said. That location is about 16 miles from where the body was found.   Detectives from sheriff's stations in Hemet, Perris and the Central Homicide Unit went to the field, amidst vacant land. No suspects have been named, and no arrests made, the sergeant said today.
