A man is in custody for allegedly robbing women in Lake Elsinore.

Adrian Gamas, 27, of Lake Elsinore was arrested Wednesday after a detective pieced together evidence from two separate robberies in the city.

In the middle of the day on Jan. 31, Gamas allegedly approached a woman and her 9-year-old daughter who were using an ATM at the Lakeshore Drive Bank of America.

“The suspect brandished a knife at the female victim and daughter and ordered her to withdraw $200,” according to a news release from the Lake Elsinore Police Department.

The woman let the suspect withdraw the money from her account; after he got the cash, he fled in a white Toyota Tundra, the release stated.

Then in the middle of the day on Feb. 1, an elderly woman was robbed as she exited the Target store on Collier Avenue. According to the news release, the victim was getting into her vehicle and placed her purse on the passenger seat; the robber allegedly opened the passenger door and grabbed the handbag.

“The suspect was chased by the victim around several cars in an attempt to retrieve her purse. The suspect eventually dropped the purse and fled the area in a green Honda Accord,” the news release stated.

A witness got the license plate number.

Then on Wednesday, police received video from Bank of America that depicted the alleged Jan. 31 armed robbery. A detective who viewed video from both the Target purse theft and the armed robbery determined it was the same suspect.

Further investigation by detectives on Wednesday led them to the 200 block of Peck Street in Lake Elsinore, where the white Toyota truck had been seen earlier.

When detectives arrived the truck was not at the location, but a detective spotted the vehicle in the area of Lakeshore Drive and Riverside Drive. A felony traffic stop was made and the suspect was taken into custody, according to the news release.

At 6:50 p.m. Wednesday, a search warrant was served in the 29000 block of Jernigan where the suspect allegedly resides. The green Honda Accord that police say was used in the purse theft was located at the residence.

More robberies! Get a job lowlife drug addicts. Some of us work hard to support our families not drug addictions. It makes me sick that they prey on a mother and child or an elderly lady. Cowards!

Protect each other. Take an extra minute to check your surrounding's when getting in and out of your car.Watch for others as well.An elderly lady can chase a loser we can all do our part.Stop giving money to the lady at four corners Stater Bros because she says her kids need milk. She pulls this all the time. The money is for drugs and keeps these low lifes in our town.Be Aware!!!!!!

When do we want to make this community a place for jobs for those who want to be more than just criminals. I wish we would start offering alternatves for our young people rather than what they have now. When do we politically change the direction of this community in order to reduce crime and produce leaders and advocates for a better future rather than the one Lake Elsinore has had for so long. Look around at all the messages on all the walls and buildings. These folks and their messages are in plain site. When wil we pay attention, listen, and open a dialogue, form coalitions, and move into the 21st Century.

You have got to be kidding right? I don't see how having a dialogue with scum will be productive.

The four corners area is a BAD area and I avoid it at all costs unless I have my Man with me. As i've said before it is full of gang bangers, homeless tweaked out people and others that are very scarey looking. I have been accused of profiling and so on but it is what it is and anyone that travels this area sees what it is and there is huge reason to be concerned if you are a Woman and trying to grocery shop or just use the banking teller. Good job LEPD for removing another scumb bag from our community.............Keep building and offering low income housing, you build it and they will come, as for jobs do you really think these jerks want to work.....you're kidding me right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where is the four corner area?
Diana February 23, 2012 at 05:44 PM
Riverside Drive and Lakeshore are called 'the four corners"

Thanks to LEPD for getting another criminal off our streets! I don't live far from the four corner area and any woman who goes in that area at night especially...don't go alone or make sure your car locked and it is brightly lit wherever you go. Those pan handlers live behind the Stater Bros Market. I drove behind there one night looking for a lost dog and discovered their dirty little secret behind and surrounding those bldgs in the Stater Bros area.

Nice job catching the person. Now send the message and lock him up for a few years. Make him work for his living space it should not be free. Sell both cars he drove, sell off anything in the house and use that money to pay for the DA that is going to try and get him out of jail sooner. It is time to fix the system lock them up and keep them make it hard for them not easy. Take everything from them leave them nothing. Don't genralize about the area a lot of hard working people live near by and pay taxes. If people are living behind Stater Bros. then fine Starter Bros for allowing it. Time to clean up the area. There is plenty of homeless places to live. They just have to follow the rules like no drugs. Stop building so many low income housing projects that will help to clean it up as well. I support those who work and need the assistance but keep those out who abuse the system.

What's up with the plucked eyebrows? Kinda feminine in my opinion.

Lol...she must have wandered over to Albersons one day, and yes, I gave her money! When I saw leaving without her "hungry child" I went straight over to Ink Sanity and had "SUCKER" tattooed across my forehead.
