Motorcyclist Killed In Lake Elsinore

The Lake Elsinore Police Department is searching for a motorcycle rider who may have information about a deadly crash that claimed a fellow rider.

Lake Elsinore resident James Michael Mycroft, 32, died Sunday at 5:36 p.m. after crashing a motorcycle he was riding into a tree at Hillside Drive and Parkview Lane.

Witnesses said the Mycroft was traveling westbound on Hillside at a high rate of speed, according to Sgt. Steve de la Vara. “At some point, the rider lost control and crashed, striking a tree,” he said.

The crash occurred just before 5 p.m.

Mycroft was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center, but died a short time later as a result of his injuries.

“There was another motorcycle rider in the area at the time of the crash who left the area,” Sgt. de la Vara said. “He was on a dirt bike with yellow fenders.”

According to the sergeant, witnesses said the dirt bike rider stopped at the crash scene but rode off.

“He may have information vital to the investigation and is wanted as a witness,” Sgt. de la Vara said.
