New Lead Surfaces In Year-Old Murder Case

New information has surfaced in the killing death of Franklin Robles, 33, a Lake Elsinore man who was shot and robbed in Long Beach.

Police have new information in the unsolved August 2010 case of a Lake Elsinore man who died after being shot by robbers in Long Beach, and it's hoped the fresh lead will shed light on the year-old murder investigation.

Franklin Robles, 33, was shot and robbed Aug. 9, 2010, in the 1400 block of West 16th Street in Long Beach.

The Long Beach Police Department said in a press statement that its preliminary investigation revealed that Robles had gone to the location to purchase a vehicle. Once there, he was robbed by two black males who shot him in the upper body, according to the press statement.

The victim was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The case has remained unsolved for more than one year.

Through investigation, however, detectives have recently learned that a tan Chevy Suburban, similar to the vehicle depicted here, was seen parked at the victim’s residence in Lake Elsinore, which police discovered had been burglarized after the murder in Long Beach.
