UPDATED: Pedestrian Falls Into Corona Street, Killed By Oncoming Delivery Truck

The seriously injured victim, John Larson, was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died a short time later.

UPDATED JAN. 23: An investigation is underway into the death of a pedestrian struck and killed in Corona when he apparently lost his footing and fell into the path of an oncoming delivery truck.

The fatal mishap occurred around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1100 block of West Sixth Street, according to Corona police.

The victim, John Larson, 75, of Corona, was standing on the center median, between the eastbound and westbound lanes, when he tumbled in front of a delivery truck headed east on Sixth Street, said Corona police Sgt. Randy Wambold.

The motorist, a 45-year-old Riverside man, was traveling at a slow pace but did not have time to stop when the pedestrian fell in front of his car, Wambold reported.   

Larson, who was seriously injured, was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital, where he died a short time later, according to Wambold. --City News Service and Toni McAllister contributed to this report.
