Person Dies in Early-Morning Crash Near Lake Mathews

Two others were injured in the three-vehicle collision reported at 4:30 a.m. Friday at El Sobrante Road and Lockwood Avenue, a CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department official stated.

A Riverside man has been identified as the victim who died at the scene of a three-vehicle accident early Friday near Lake Mathews.

Saul Oros-Gomez, 38, was pronounced deceased at 4:44 a.m. by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's office.

One person died and two others were injured in a car accident early Friday near Lake Mathews, a fire official reported.

A traffic collision involving three vehicles was reported at 4:30 a.m. Friday at El Sobrante Road and Lockwood Avenue, near the Lake Mathews Ecological Reserve, according to Mark Annas, a spokesman for CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department. 

Firefighters were forced to extricate at least one person who had become trapped.

One victim died on scene, Annas reported.

Two others—one suffered minor injuries and the other moderate—were transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment, according to Annas.

The deceased had not been identified by coroner's officials as of publication time.
