08/03/11 Assault with a Deadly Weapon:  Officers responded to a 911 call on the 15000 block of Grand and arrested Carolyn Maguire (age 53 of Lake Elsinore) for assault and driving under the influence.   L112150054

Details:

At 12:58 PM, officers were dispatched to a vehicle vs. bicyclist collision at 31784 Casino Drive. Responding officers arrived at 12:59 PM and located the bicyclist on the roadway edge. The bicyclist suffered multiple serious injuries. He was transported to Inland Valley Medical Center by responding paramedics. The victim, a nineteen-year-old Wildomar man, was rushed to surgery, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His identity is being withheld pending family notifications.

Preliminary investigate efforts indicate the bicyclist left his place of employment on his BMX style bicycle. He entered Casino drive at a right angle, apparently attempting to cross in a westerly direction. He crossed directly into the path of a full-size Chevrolet work van, and was struck by the right front corner of the van, as the driver attempted to avoid the collision. The driver offered full cooperation with investigators and was later released from the scene.

The roadway was partially closed for the investigation across northbound lanes and is scheduled to be re-opened at approximately 1930 hours.

Hit and Run Traffic Collision with Injury / DUI Arrest

Details:

On Tuesday, August 9, 2011, at 1:44 AM, officers were dispatched to the intersection of McVicker Canyon Park Road and Gateway Drive reference a report of a single vehicle hit and run traffic collision. According to the reporting party, a truck collided with a block wall at the location. The driver was observed fleeing the area on foot.

At 1:46 AM, officer arrived in the area and located the inoperable vehicle and a male subject matching the physical description of the driver. The driver was identified as Luis Garcia (age 25), a resident of Lake Elsinore. Garcia identified himself to be the driver of the vehicle. He sustained moderate injuries as a result of the incident.

Preliminary investigation indicates Garcia was driving north on McVicker Canyon Park Road at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle. The vehicle then left the roadway and collided with a block wall. Alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision. Garcia was transported to a nearby hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

Felony Warrant:  Officers contacted Jaime Nelson (age 48 of Wildomar) on the 21000 block of Dunn St. and arrested her for an outstanding drug-related warrant.   WI112160027
