UPDATED WITH SUSPECT PHOTO: Police Identify Boy Shot And Killed By Lake Elsinore-Area Suspect

The Menifee teen who was shot and killed by a suspect from the Lake Elsinore area has been identified.

According to Cpl. Courtney Donowho of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, 22-year-old Walter Morales Cortez of Meadowbrook has been charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting.

When police arrived at the crime scene early Saturday, they found the boy in the road with fatal gunshot wounds, according to Menifee Police Sgt. Brian Reno.

A second male juvenile was also found near the location with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. He was taken to a local hospital and was listed in stable condition, Reno said.

Cortez has also been charged with attempted murder in connection with the shooting of the second boy.
