Police Ramp Up Security For 9/11

"The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is augmenting awareness on all levels and is working closely with state and federal agencies to coordinate for increased vigilance,'' Chief Deputy Mitch Alm said.

Extra security measures are planned in Riverside County for Sunday's 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

"The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is augmenting awareness on all levels and is working closely with state and federal agencies to coordinate for increased vigilance,'' Chief Deputy Mitch Alm said Tuesday. "While there are no identified threats in the county, the department will have a proactive stance.''

According to Alm, there will be additional patrols, and the sheriff's operations center in downtown Riverside will be on "management watch,'' monitoring county events, as well as state and national activities scheduled during the upcoming weekend for any signs of potential risks.

"The Riverside County Sheriff's Department is asking that all members of the community remain ... vigilant and aware of their surroundings during this time of remembrance.''
