Police Release Robot Photo Of Suspicious Device Found In Lake Elsinore

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department has released an image of the suspicious device found in Lake Elsinore on April 24. The photo was taken by a sheriff's department robot, before investigators deemed the suspicious device safe to handle.

A portion of Lake Elsinore's Riverside Drive was closed due to the find that resembled a pack of dynamite. The device was spotted at the Diamond Car Wash, 31495 Riverside Drive, around 4 p.m. by a citizen who subsequently called police. Riverside Drive was closed for nearly four hours, as investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Hazardous Device Team worked the scene.

Using a robot, it was eventually determined the suspicious device was conduit wrapped in black electrical tape.

Friday the sheriff's department released the image from the robot to more clearly show what investigators were seeing.
