Sheriff's Officials Check in on Area Sex Offenders, Most in Compliance

The Riverside County Sheriff's Department says they conducted a sex offender compliance check this week.

Sheriff's officials went around local neighborhoods this week to check in on known sex offenders.

According to Sheriff's Lt. Zachary Hall, Lake Elsinore deputies conducted compliance checks on 54 registered sex offenders in the communities of Lake Elsinore, Lakeland Village, Temescal Valley, Goodhope, Meadow Brook and Wildomar on Monday.

"The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, along with our law enforcement partners, monitor offenders to ensure they are in compliance with the law and registration requirements," Hall said.

Hall tells Patch that of those checked, only four were possibly found to be out of compliance.

"Currently, we are doing follow-up investigations on four [offenders]," he said on Thursday.

Hall says if those investigations prove that the sex offenders are not in compliance, then they could face being arrested or other legal ramifications.  "Non-compliant" actions could include no proof that someone actually lives at a provided address.
