Temescal Canyon Coach Sentenced For Sex With Minor

Faysal Jihad Hill, 35, of Canyon Lake was sentenced today to six months jail time.

A Lake Elsinore Unified School District substitute teacher who had sex with a student was sentenced today to six months in jail and three years probation.

Hill was originally charged with five counts each of unlawful intercourse with a minor and indecent exposure. However, the Riverside County District Attorney's Office agreed to drop all but one of the felony counts against him as part of a plea agreement.

The deal was certified today by Superior Court Judge Becky Dugan.

Hill was arrested last November after a sheriff's investigation determined he had been sexually involved with a girl during the summer. The victim's identity was not disclosed.

Hill worked as a substitute teacher in the district for three years, but had filled in exclusively at Temescal Canyon High School since 2009, according to Lake Elsinore Unified School District spokesman Mark Dennis.

He said Hill was placed on leave immediately after district officials learned of his arrest.

In addition to periodic teaching, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound Hill was a "walk-on" coach for the boys' freshman basketball team, assisting with practice sessions and during games as needed.

The terms of his probation include a provision expressly forbidding him from ever working with children again.
