Unidentified Man Hit By Caravan In Lake Elsinore; Police Seek Information

Northbound traffic from Lincoln on Riverside Drive was closed to traffic following the incident and the roadway was not re-opened until 2 a.m. Tuesday.

The Lake Elsinore Police Department is hoping the public can help piece together missing information involving a man who was hit by a vehicle Monday night.

The collision involving the pedestrian and a blue 2000 Dodge Caravan occurred Dec. 23 shortly before 11 p.m. at Riverside Drive and Joy Street in Lake Elsinore.

The Dodge driver was traveling north on Riverside Drive, at the Joy Street intersection, when the pedestrian crossed the street and was hit by the Caravan's passenger-side fender, according to a report from Sgt. Linda Maria Hughes.

"Intoxication does not appear to be a factor," Hughes wrote.

The pedestrian was taken to a local area hospital with what are being described as "major injuries."

The driver sustained no injuries, according to Hughes.  

"The victim’s identity is unknown. He is described as a transient white male adult, 25 to 35 years old, short dark hair, stocky build, 5’10" tall, wearing black New Balance tennis shoes and dark clothing with a dark brown blanket wrapped around him," Hughes reported.
