Lake Elsinore Streets Expected To Tidy Up

Expectations are that landscaping along Lake Elsinore city streets and beaches will get prettier in the months to come.

During Tuesday night’s regularly scheduled Lake Elsinore City Council meeting, an agreement to bring on a new landscape maintenance company was approved.

Corona-based Excel Landscape was awarded a four-year contract to trim trees, abate weeds, replace dead plants and more along approximately 34 acres of public right-of-ways and streetscapes, as well as approximately 15 acres of beach and levee areas in the city.

While there are many Lake Elsinore streets covered under the agreement, major streets that run through the city and fall under the contract include Highway 74, Lakeshore Drive, Main Street, Riverside Drive, Robb Road, Grand Avenue, Mission Trail, Railroad Canyon Road, Diamond Drive, Corydon Street, Summerhill Drive, Tuscany Hills Parkways, and Grape Street.

The cost to the city is not expected to exceed $170,000 annually.

The vote by council members to approve the deal was 5-0.

Excel is replacing Murrieta-based CTAI Pacific Greenscape for the job. CTAI’s contract had expired with Lake Elsinore. According to city documents, CTAI’s work was sometimes “substandard” and there were concerns about some safety issues.
