LETTER TO THE EDITOR: What Is Bob Buster Spending Our Money On?

I recommend termination of the employment of Bob Buster effective November 6, 2012.

Evidently Supervisor Bob Buster feels entitled to spending our money on his own re-election. The 20 year incumbent has given away $80,000 of my, yours -- OUR money -- to insider friends and organizations just before an election.

It is patently obvious to even the most casual observer that Buster is giving our money away to curry favor for votes on Election Day. Evidently, the 20-year incumbent views the Community Improvement Designation Funds as being his own personal political piggybank. This is an egregious abuse of power under color of authority. Perhaps he has been in power so long that he views himself as a community improvement.

In the private sector this sort of behavior by an employee would be grounds for termination. The 20-incumbent may have forgotten he is the employee of we taxpayers. Therefore I recommend termination of the employment of Bob Buster effective November 6, 2012.

RESPONSE FROM SUPERVISOR BOB BUSTER’S OFFICE REGARDING USE OF COMMUNITY IMPROVEMENT DESIGNATION FUNDS:

The approval for allocating Community Improvement Designation Funds requires a four-fifths vote by the supervisors.

“In Supervisor Buster’s district, the funds support programs hit hardest by state budget cuts,” contends Dave Stahovich, Buster’s chief of staff.

Programs that have been supported include Lake Elsinore and Wildomar senior centers, Helping Our People of Elsinore, senior abuse seminars, a swim program for area youth at Lakeside High School, Canyon Lake Fire Station, Boys & Girls Club at Alberhill Ranch, patrol on Lake Elsinore, etc., Stahovich said.

“Supervisor Buster has often returned up to half of the funds to the county’s General Fund. He is very frugal with this.”
