Shelly Jordan, Michael O'Neal Appointed To Lake Elsinore Planning Commission Top Spots

The Lake Elsinore Planning Commission has appointed a new chair and vice chair for the 2011-12 fiscal year.

In a 5-0 vote by the planning commissioners Tuesday night, Commissioner Shelly Jordan was appointed to chair. In a separate unanimous vote, Commissioner Michael O’Neal was appointed to vice chair.

Planning commissioners are appointed by the City Council to four-year staggered terms. Jordan’s current term on the commission expires in 2014 and O’Neal’s in 2012.

Commission Chair John Gonzalez resigned his position, but will continue to serve his term through 2012.

Tuesday night, the commissioners praised Gonzalez’s leadership and his commitment to the city.

Prior to his appointment Tuesday night, O’Neal made a motion to appoint Commission Vice Chair Phil Mendoza to another term, but Mendoza graciously declined citing work commitments that he said prohibit him from taking on a top position on the commission.
