Wildomar Has Glimmer Of Hope In Sacramento

A state Senate committee approved a measure Wednesday that’s designed to help new cities, including Wildomar.

Senate Bill 56 would give Wildomar a larger share of property tax revenue to replace of the vehicle license fees the city lost due to a provision in the 2011/12 state budget. When that state budget was approved two years ago, it immediately carved $1.7 million of VLF revenues out of Wildomar's budget.

Other new cities affected by the 2011 cut were Jurupa Valley, Menifee and Eastvale.

SB 56 still has hurdles to clear. The bill’s next challenge is making it through the Senate Appropriations Committee.
