Women Of The Year Nominations Being Sought

Last year's Riverside County 1st District Woman of the Year was awarded to University of California, Riverside educator Dr. Pamela Clute.

The County of Riverside Commission for Women is accepting nominations for the 2011 Women of the Year awards. The awards honor an outstanding woman in each supervisorial district who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to her community by working to improve the status of women and their families in Riverside County. 

Last year's Riverside County 1st District Woman of the Year was awarded to University of California, Riverside educator Dr. Pamela Clute. District 1 includes Lake Elsinore and Wildomar.

“Dr. Clute’s passion for mathematics education has inspired thousands of students, especially girls and women, to excel in mathematics, science, technology and engineering,” said 1st District Riverside County Supervisor Bob Buster last April when the award was presented. “She brings excitement and recognition to the fact that mathematics is the bedrock of many important disciplines and opportunities.”

Nomination forms for this year's Women of the Year awards are available at http://www.rivcocfw.org/. Send completed nomination form and statement, by Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, no later than 5 p.m. to:  County of Riverside, Commission for Women, Attention: Sundae Sayles, 2011 Woman  of the Year 4080 Lemon Street, 7th Floor, c/o Human Resources, Riverside, CA 92501.  Or fax the form to (951) 955-3479.

Nominations will be reviewed by Riverside County leaders and winners will be selected based upon their work to bring about social and economic change, promote women’s equality, and serve as an outstanding role model to women and girls.

Also considered will be their work on behalf of women’s issues or outstanding performance within their professions to further advocate women’s rights and improve the status of women in Riverside County. 

The awards will be presented at the Riverside County Board of Supervisor’s meeting March 20 at 8:30 a.m. in the Board meeting chambers, 4080 Lemon St. in Riverside.
