LEUSD Kindergarten Registration To Begin

The LEUSD wants parents or guardians to go directly to their school sites between February 22 and March 25 to register their children for the Kindergarten 2011-12 school year.

Although it's only February, the Lake Elsinore Unified School District is ramping up for next year's Kindergarten kids.

The LEUSD wants parents or guardians to go directly to their school sites between February 22 and March 25 to register their children for the Kindergarten 2011-12 school year.

A flyer in English and Spanish has been prepared and posted on the district’s website www.leusd.k12.ca.us. It includes a checklist of what to bring and do before attempting to register.

The district wants parents to remember that a child must be 5 years old on or before December 2, 2011 to register for the 2011-12 school year. However, a new state law progressively changes the cutoff date for kindergarten registration beginning next year.

Complete immunization is critical, so the district is asking that parents pay close attention to the new requirements given in the flyer — students with incomplete immunizations will not be enrolled.

All required documents and immunization information a parent/guardian should bring with them to register are detailed on the flyer, including a birth certificate, proof of residency, evidence showing completed required immunizations, recent physical exam, and a recent oral health assessment.

If a child receives special education services, a copy of the child’s IEP is also required.
