As the Titan boys get set for their CIF match, the Titans girls tennis team proved its mettle this year by advancing to CIF competition.

Playing at home Thursday, the girls took on the Carpinteria Warriors in the CIF Division 5 semifinals. Although the Titans lost 10-8, the team has something to celebrate.

“Last year was the first time in the school history that the Titans girls tennis qualified for both CIF team and individual championships. But this year is just incredible, we never expected to go this far at the CIF team tournament,” said TCHS Principal Erroll Garnett.

Although the loss ended the team’s season, several players advanced to CIF individual playoffs including Louise Dequilla, and the team’s top doubles pair, Shayna Hutton and Megan Thomas.
