Wildomar Charter School Students Take Honors During County History Day

Sycamore Academy of Science and Cultural Arts students Alexis Alladio and Mia Macias took third place in the 4th and 5th grade group 2-D display.

The 30th Annual Riverside County History Day Competition wrapped up Saturday with winners crowned after a full day of competition at King High School in Riverside.

Two hundred students competed at the county level with 121 entries in various categories, and two local kids received honors.

Sycamore Academy is a charter school in Wildomar.

The theme this year for History Day was "Turning Points in History: People, Ideas, Events." The entries were judged with three criteria: historical quality, quality of presentation, and adherence to the theme. The work was done completely by students.

History Day competitions started in September at the school level. Some first- and second-place finishers will move on to state competition.
