Sheridan and Calvert to Tangle

Tim Sheridan has won a place on the November ballot in the race for the 42nd Congressional District. Sheridan feels that Congress is broken and that it is time to replace long-time incumbents with new representatives who will place the people first.

Democrat Tim Sheridan has secured a place on the ballot in November against 20-year incumbent Congressman, Ken Calvert, in the race for California’s 42nd Congressional District seat. “I want to thank those who voted for me,” Sheridan said. “Congress does not work. It’s time we replace long-time incumbents like Ken Calvert with new representation.” He added, “We need to put the middle-class first; we need to put people first.”

Sheridan credited his hard-working, all- volunteer campaign team. “They pulled out all the stops over the last couple of weeks putting up signs, organizing a convoy that drove around the district, and making calls to get out the vote. I'm very appreciative,” he said. Sheridan will have a huge battle ahead of him in this Republican majority area. The incumbent, Calvert, has been in office for over twenty years and has a great deal of money. “Calvert has been funded by large out-of-state special interests,” Sheridan’s Campaign Chair Gail Ferrell contends, “But, despite this, we’re going to bring his record to the voters and go from there. We will win in November”

Sheridan says that House members like Mr. Calvert have become too entrenched in Washington. He notes that the original intent of the House of Representatives was to allow people from the community to represent their fellow citizens for a few terms and then return home. "That intent has been lost in Washington," Sheridan said, "We need to work to get it back." Sheridan goes into the race with many local, state and national endorsements.
