Butterfield Trails Maintenance Day

Butterfield Trails will be hosting a clean-up event for the Fenceline Trail on the Santa Rosa Plateau on Saturday, February 11, 2012, in conjunction with the Riverside County Parks and Open-Space District’s Adopt-A-Trail program. The group is looking for teens and adults to volunteer to help with light weeding, pruning and filling in holes to keep the trail safe and enjoyable for the public.

Fenceline is a multi-use trail used by hikers, horseback riders, and bikers with non-motorized equipment. Local high school cross country teams use it for training, and families and private groups are attracted to the trail for exercise and enjoying the beautiful natural environment.

Butterfield Trails is committed to inspecting and maintaining this trail at least once each quarter during the year.  Please come out and help us get off to a good start with this first maintenance day event.  The County will supply equipment and trash bag pick-ups, and Butterfield will provide water, snacks and supervision out on the trail.  Students can earn Community Service Credits too.

All participants must sign the County’s Indemnification and  Waiver form and provide current emergency contract information before working on the trail.  Students or anyone under 18 years of age must have a parent or guardian sign for them.  One can download and print this document and our Outing Guidelines from www.ButterfieldTrails.org

Sign-ups start at 8:00 am, and teams will work from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.  Meet on the Plateau in the Fenceline Trailhead parking lot.  Travel West on Clinton Keith past the SRP Visitors’ Center, go about 1.5 to 2.0 miles further and turn into the large parking lot on your left.  The Butterfield Trails Banner will be on the fence.
