Lake Elsinore Storm GM Resigns For New Job With Sugar Land Skeeters

The following is a news release from the Lake Elsinore Storm:

The Lake Elsinore Storm announced today that Vice President/General Manager Chris Jones will be leaving to join the Sugar Land Skeeters in a similar capacity.

Jones joined the Storm organization in 2002 and has been General Manager since 2007. In 2008, the Houston native was elected California League Executive of the Year and, in 2010, took home the Heroes in Education Award for his efforts in assisting local schools in the Lake Elsinore community. Under Jones’ guidance, the Storm also received national recognition as the recipients of the Larry MacPhail Award (2011) and the Bob Freitas Awards (2007) for their promotional achievements and community involvement.

Chris’ contributions extend beyond the Storm organization. He is both the president of the Canyon Lake Little League and executive board member of the Lake Elsinore Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Prior to joining the Storm, Jones began his professional career with Texas Stadium in hospitality and suite management for the Dallas Cowboys. He later moved to the High Desert Mavericks of the California League and served as an Assistant General Manager.

"We are sorry to see Chris leave as he has been a large part of the Storm growth and success" said team President Dave Oster. "But we are happy for Chris and his success especially as he relocates back to Texas and near his home town in Sugar Land.  We know he will be as good for the Skeeters organization as he was for the Storm."

The Storm will return home on July 10. Visit stormbaseball.com or call 951-245-4487 for more information on tickets, events and promotions.
